Gr8LakesCamper – Rick Kessler

Gr8LakesCamper (aka Rick Kessler, at left) celebrates the world of RV camping in the Midwest. Gather around the campfire and share tips, ideas and stories on RVing, camping and travel destinations.

Rick and his family (his wife and three kids, and sometimes their dog) have been RV campers since 2007. They own a 2000 Trail-Lite B22 Bantam hybrid, their tow vehicle is a 2006 Trailblazer LT EXT (5.3 V8 with 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio), and their setup includes the Equalizer sway controller. Rick says they are looking to upgrade the camper in the near future, but until then they get out 2-3 times a month in season.

Many relatives of Rick’s have been RVers for decades — some were even full-timers for several years — and when they get together the campsites are filled with motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, hybrids, pop-up campers and even tents.

When not camping, Rick is an editor at a Metro Detroit newspaper, where he has worked the past 15 years.
