A Lug_Nut view.   5th wheel trailers are going to new heights and rival highline motorized coaches like the Prevost conversions.  Like the Canadian built Prevost Coach, this 5th wheel is also being designed and built by a Canadian company.   This two story fiver is 53 feet in length and 13 feet 6 inches in height.  It will weigh in at about 40,000 lbs. when completely outfitted.

Specifications:

Trailer Length: 53’

Over All Length: (Trailer/Tractor) 70’

Trailer Weight: Appox. 40,000 lbs.

Over All Height: 13’ 6”

Number of Slides: 4

IMG_1574The rear conversion type cap powers open to reveal a garage that will accommodate a medium/small automobile.  Ahead of this area, and still on the bottom level, a bedroom, bathroom and micro kitchen suitable to accommodate a driver or for a guest suite is present.

IMG_1579IMG_1575

A curving stairway from the bottom level leads to the kitchen and dining area of the upper level.  Heading toward the rear brings you into a spacious living room that expands on both sides with large slide outs.  The master bedroom and bath are located in the rear of the coach.  This area also has two large slides.

This unit employed a 535 horse power Volvo diesel powered tractor with a 10 speed auto shifting transmission.  The extended cab tractor was luxuriously appointed with leather sofa and lazy boy like chairs.

So, how much will this set you back when they become available?  Better count on spending upward of 1.3 million dollars or more for the entire tractor trailer package.

All of that and you won’t get into a Class A only RV Resort. Sounds nice though.

  2. Ronald on August 23rd, 2011 4:42 pm

No thanks! I will stay with my “Made In America” RV. Nothing against the Canadians, we just need to build outr own stuff.

  3. Jim G on August 23rd, 2011 5:03 pm

And it comes with an on-board 200 gallon fuel storage tank, just so you can make it from one fuel stop to the next. While interesting (sort of) the oppulence is better suited for the Hollywood crowd or perhaps for the Walll St. bunch although they probably prefer to travel via personal jet. I have no objections to the fact that it is made outside the USA, because they will probably only make about a half-dozen per year hardly enough to support a workforce.

  4. Jim G on August 23rd, 2011 5:05 pm

Perhaps an even better question is WHY? I guess just to prove that it can be done, suckers are born every day.

  5. Gary on August 23rd, 2011 5:47 pm

Holy crap. Can you believe that something like this is being built? Of course, no mention of cost. “but if you can afford it” you would probably be the only one stupid enough to do so.. My opinion only of course, but OMG tells it like it is.

  6. butterbean carpenter on August 23rd, 2011 6:21 pm

    Howdy LN,

Warren Buffett just sold his RV company.. Maybe he’ll get one of these.. Bill Gates lives in Washington, so, he doesn’t need an RV to camp there.. Maybe Obama !!!..

Smooth roads, clear skies & balmy breezes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. ken on August 23rd, 2011 7:04 pm

13-6 ??? Let’s see, take about about a foot for roof, and 2 floors and don’t forget clearance from the road. Must be for short people.

  8. Dave on August 23rd, 2011 7:42 pm

And like the rest of the 5ers on the road, it probably won’t require a Class A CDL to haul it around. Now THAT’S scary!! What happened to the affordable RV’s? Has the world gone mad? This will be owned by some retired farmer that has more $$$ than brains. Just like the big cruisers on the Mississippi……

  9. Lug_Nut on August 23rd, 2011 8:36 pm

Jim G, Actually this is the shell designer and builder similar to Prevost, they will sell it to a converter company probably in the U.S. That’s where the real cost goes up. So it will be the similar to Prevost offerings through Marathon or Liberty.

  10. Lug_Nut on August 23rd, 2011 8:40 pm

Ken, Great point. The lower level only has about 5′ 7″ headroom and the upper about 6′ 3″, Additionally no accessories such as a sat dish can be mounted on the roof. It is at the maximum clearance. Thanks for your great comment.

Beautiful! Long OVERDUE. There are those who truly understand luxury.
All this FIVER could ask for is WHITE WALL TIRES and FENDER SKIRTS.
No pun intended. It is time to return to the elegance of style. WHITE WALL TIRES and FENDER SKIRTS, add an invaluable amount of class to a very classy product. Never forget; that it is always about STYLE as an ART FORM.

Boeing builds the 787 Dreamliner, the 777 Wide body, the 737-900, the 767, 747, 737, 757. Airbus builds the A380. Bombardier builds SKI-DOO and Snow-Mobiles. There must always be those to challange the status quo. To dream bigger and what could be just to progress into the future. In the early 1920’s Henry Ford built the Camping Car, In the 1930’s GM built the Astro-Liner and airstream was concieved and in the 1940’s brought the Airstream to fruition. In the 1960’s Winnebago demonstrated that a Motorhome was affordable.
Today there are between 15,000 and 20,000 new RV’s manufactured anually and more to come. I haven’t even made note about the Recreational Boating industry.
From Row Boat to the Largest Feadships and Burgers in excess of 300 feet in length that can have aircraft on their decks. Yes it is time to take the RV industry to the next level of excellence.

Add on to Billk’s comment, any RV operation that invokes the “status” bar will never have to worry about my being there. It is the lack of financial requirements that make RV travel interesting.

She’s a beauty. What is a small to medium size automobile? I remember seeing ones that were able to hold minis, but I want something a little bit bigger than a mini.

  18. Lug_Nut on August 25th, 2011 5:26 pm

PJ Donnelly, Well, may be, but we are talking about a stainless steel frame and super structure, pretty expensive manufactured stuff, like Prevost offers. Thanks for your great input.

  19. Lug_Nut on August 25th, 2011 5:39 pm

Robert C. Zorne, Whoa, back the Presidential bus up! These two Prevost chassis built units were sold to the Secret Service from a Tennesse dealer. Prevost only sells the chassis’s while a coverter does the rest, the big buck stuff. By far the most profit and big buck stuff happens at the conversion end. This is more a U.S.A. product, profit wise, than most products you will come across in this catigory. Go U.S.!

  20. Lug_Nut on August 26th, 2011 5:42 am

Paul, We are talking about a Ford Focus and the like. Thanks for your question and comment.

  21. John on March 12th, 2012 1:39 am

    Hello Lug_Nut,
Quite a piece of Canadian engineering! Would love to see the finished product. Is the manufacturer a subsidiary of Prevost? With that kind of weight it has to have air brakes. RV parks will have to modernize to accomodate the larger rigs that are out there. My coach pulls a 20 foot aluminum car trailer for a total of 65 feet. This is the maximum length for many jurisdictions.

    Cheers,
    John

  22. Lug_Nut on March 12th, 2012 6:43 am

John, No, the company is not connected to Prevost., it is a private company located on the east coast of Canada. I don’t know if the market will support such a big rig in a 5th wheel. Thanks for your comments they are always appreciated.

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
