Linda and I are getting the motorhome ready for our annual trip to Kentucky to attend the RVIA show in Louisville to gather information on the general state of the RV industry, and to view new products at the show.  We will be reporting on events as they occur, here on blog.

Last year, I asked for questions from our readers about anything related to the RV industry.  If you have anything you want, or need to know, leave a comment, and we will try to track down an answer for you.  If there is a specific RV configuration you might be interested in, let us know and we will try to locate it at the show.  With over 600,000 square feet of show space, there is usually at least one of everything to look at.  We will try to have photos of new products, and hopefully some interesting interviews with various product suppliers as well as manufacturer’s representatives.

When are the RV manufactures going to offer residential size beds in more models. I am over 6 feet tall and a 74 inch bed is too short. How can they legally call this size a queen bed?

I’m interested in the new Eddie Bauer/Airstream 25′ travel trailer. What does the hatchback provide for the traveler and how big is it? How does it integrate with the floorplan? Pix and drawings would be ever so much appreciated, as would the price tag.

    Larry ..
If you would be so kind to get a look at 5 wheel toy haulers. I’m looking for a 36 ft. that will hold a Can-am 3 wheel bike. I don’t need a 10 ft garage and I’d like as much space as I can get for the wife on the inside..
    Thanks Mike

Larry, I would like to know if there is a 35-38ft DP with a middle door entry. Maybe even a FRED, if you happen to find one drop me a line with info or link. Thanks

I am looking for a 35 ft class A with at least one outside storage bay that I could lay 4 wire exercise pens for my dogs. I need a flat space measuring at least 24 inches wide X 24 inches deep & 18 inches high.

Bought a new Lance travel trailer in August. To date it has been in the service department of the dealership for 11 weeks total. Took it out once in September and had no batteries every evening while dry camping. Dealer has been “fixing” it ever since. Friend also bought a new travel trailer and had the converter on his unit go out as well. Is there something going on out there that we travel trailer owners need to be aware of? I’d hate to plan on replacing the converter on a regular basis. Thanks for your time.

If you would be good enough to check out when Mfrs will be producing a diesel in a 28 foot class A with a queen size bed. I’m looking to replace my Winnie Sightseer 26Y gasser at some point. It’s exactly 28.5 feet exterior and just barely fits in my storage area at home.
Have a ball at the Expo!!

Which refridgerator is better for boondocking? The typical two door Dometic LP/110V or the residential full size 110V? We’re shopping to buy 40 ft + class A with generator and solar panels and lookng for some advice.
    Thanks in advance.

I am considering a new DP in the 34 to 36 foot length. However, I am also looking for a coach that is only 96 inches wide. Tiffin has just come out with a 28 foot, but I want bigger as I am a full-timer. Here are some thoughts:
Capable of filling fresh water tank by gravity feed
    Largest possible refrigerator
Maximize internal and external storage space
Booth dinette offers more storage over table and chairs
    Storage under the bed
Large shower stall and comfortable toilet area
    Large fuel tank
Large Fresh, Gray, and Black, water tanks
    Maximum wardrobe space
    Double slide
    Front slide on driver’s side
    Bedroom slide on passenger side
34 to 36 foot length maximum
Engine size of about 300 to 330 HP
    Engine brake
    Large awning on passenger side
Option for extra battery capacity for boondocking
    5,000 pound towing capacity minimum
    2,500 cargo carrying capacity
    No vanity in the bedroom

    Thanks, and enjoy the show.

Larry, I’ve been looking at a Shurflo Extreme Series Smart Sensor 5.7 Water Pump. The reviews are horrible. I was wondering if you could find out why, while you are there. Thanx, Robbie

I am interested in the Renegade garage units and am having trouble finding a unit with a main floor level master bedroom and a 10′ garage unit. If you see any Renegade garage units I’d appreciate any info on what they are currently showing. Very close to buying a 45′ Freightliner w/ Mercedes and the 4000lb lift gate garage door but it only has a loft style sleeping or your living area convert to beds.

Enjoy the show and what are the dates?

Hi I am having to buy a new car (had a major fender bender in my honda civic hybrid) I want something bigger mid size. Looking at a vw golf desiel but was told not towable unless up on all four. I like towing all on the ground just hook up and go. Can you tell me of what cars (other than honda to small) out there that are towable on the ground? Thanks Terry

    Hi Larry,
I need a bike cover that would fit on while it is on my rack behind my car.

    Hi !

Have you heard about the last recall of Norcold. Again, they recall more than a hundred thousand new refridgerators that can cause fire without notice. I’ve called a service center and the owner told me that it takes more than three weeks to receive the parts and correct the defect. We are on the road and cannot be without a refridgerator all that time… He told me that the risk of fire would occur only if the refridgerator works on gas. Is it true ?

I certainly am not going to burden you with specific requests, however I look forward to your observations regarding trends in the RV industry. I and my SPOUSE have not as yet purchased our ideal RV for FT’ing, we have narrowed our preference to a C ‘plus’ diesel puller.
    Here are the areas of interest which have tweaked our research;
    -mileage issues-bio diesels/nitrogen/hydrogen
-move away from LP to elect. power
-!! elimination of entertainment units directly above the driver/passenger area
-lighter floor materials and counter tops
    -finally- Murphy Bed?
In closing, thanks to this site, we have retrieved extensive info and been educated on the prerequisites of embarking on a RV lifestyle. We also enjoy the blog comments, from what we feel are the real experts in this field. We are not impressed with sales pitches, we read the experiences of those with their hands on the wheel.

Would like any information about future hybrids in the RV industry.

We have been full-timing for 3 years in a 28 foot trailer and are planning to change to a used class A or class B in 4 to 11 months if it meets our needs.
We want nothing over 35 feet and the shorter the better
We are boon dockers and will add lots of weight in batteries for solar electricity and thus we need to be able to safely add 3000 lbs to the rig plus pull a mid sized car.
It must have as good a clearance as possible as we go on dirt roads.
We need a walk around queen bed
We want large fresh water, gray and black tanks.
We are not looking for the cheapest model but want at least mid quality.
We prefer better insolation to live comfortably in cold climates occasionally.
    Automatic levelers are a must
Dumping requirements must be done easily
We don’t know which brands offer these requirements and what is they best way to find them next year.
We appreciate your offer to help. You are very kind to attempt to research all these questions. Good Luck

Ask the manufactures when they will be up front about Cargo Carrying Capacity. especially concerning none DP models. I’ve seen specs where its been under 1000 pounds. Add wife and kids and you are over the limit. This is a very unsafe conditions for all of us on the road.
