Foretravel’s New Flagship
A Lug_Nut sighting. Foretravel Inc. of Nacogdoches Texas is launching a new flagship, the IH-45. The IH will be available in smaller models namely 42’ and 44’. Power will be the Cummins ISX diesel with 600/650 horse power mounted on Foretravel’s custom TravelRide chassis. That should push this 48,000 GVWR vehicle down the road with plenty of power to spare.
Increased basement and interior height is gained as the new IH is 10” higher than their current models such as the Nimbus. This totally new design is truly a highline coach that will compete with such products as Newell.
In this economy it is great to see a company like Foretravel forging ahead with this new offering. I’m looking forward to seeing one of these new rigs in the flesh at one of the upcoming RV shows.
The cost, if you must ask, is rumored at around 1.2 million. Kudos to the Foretravel design and manufacturing team.

Hookless Hangers launches a new product saving 6″ of vertical space.
Hookless Hangers are new clothes hangers which eliminate the closet rod and hook from the hanger-saving on average 6″ of vertical space. Hangers attach to closet strips with a magnet. Closet strips are easy to install, and can be added anywhere you would like to hang clothes. Closet strips are only 3/16″ of an inch thick which makes them blend in wherever they are mounted. I can only think of one person with the available cash to buy one of Foretravels new IH-45 rigs, and that’s Obams, using OUR money.
And, of course, he’s undaunted about the economy also.
Fine guy that he is…………
Jeez………..
Who the hell can affort that, I have a 30′ class c and looking to up grade but that is ridiculous.
Howdy Lug-Nut,
They must be after the retired generals & admirals, ex-senators&ex-congressmen
nobody else has that kind of retirement.. Or maybe the gasillionaires, who blew
theirs… I am going to see one, if they put them in the RV shows.. Maybe they’ll do
a Prevost and only ‘build to suit’.. I know one thing…you won’t see them in the ‘boondocks’..or Walmart parking lot..
Good grief…
That’s a lotta dough
Lug-Nut
I can’t believe you wrote this. “In this economy it is great to see a company like Foretravel forging ahead with this new offering.” In this economy they need be producing cheaper models not ultra expensive models with a very limited market. You have lost my respect with that statement.
As a fulltime RVer and RV travel writer with more than 50 yrs of experience in RVing and owning RVs I strongly concur with the above negative comments regarding this oversized hulk of an RV. I strongly disagree with Lug-nuts comments endorsing the construction of this monster by Foretravel. Lug-Nut, your credibility as an RVer and RV writer is seriously jeopardized by the posting commending Foretravel. I shall henceforth question seriously any posting that you make.
Wow! I’m going to buy 2………..One for me, and one for my wife.

The buyer could very well be a person who has provided thousands of jobs for people who can now afford to buy class C’s, whaddaya think?
■Bob Gorden, Whether you like it or not, it is a fact. There are buyers that will buy this and other such sized rigs. It takes an aggresive company to forge ahead with a new design entry at such a price point, and yes that is good news in this ecomony. Additionally there are many 45′ coaches sold today and believe me they are not big hulks. They may not conform to the tree hugger’s out there, but they do fill a need of a growing number of buyers.
DG … probably NOT. More likely a CEO of one of the Bankrupted Co’s. Probably the people who founded the Co can now afford the Class C.
McCord… You confuse the Pres. with some of your rich Republican THEIVES, who tried to bankrupt the country, while in Cahoots with Chaney and Bushy. By the Bye, Can You afford one or are you one of the misguided poor folks who vote for them. Don’t you realize the Only rights they are for are 2nd amendment? By the way I DO own and use weapons, and I Do support ALL personal rights per the constitution and it’s amendments.
Thank you for paying attention!
Mutter Mutter I just HATE ignorance!
Bye th way Lug,,,, Icould work another Lifetime and still not be able to afford one of those.
■Allen, Come on, you have to know there is a market for this type of rig. You also have to know the RV industry has been under pressure for sometime. There are buyers that will not be attracted to smaller cheaper units. It takes a company that has a real drive to step up and produce for this market space. If there was more companies moving aggresively forward in this manner we may expect a quicker recovery.
Sorry you feel as you do.
Lug
You are right. The folks in the top five per cent of income, can afford to have one in every state Including Alaska and Ha. And they are one of the last things to be Made in the USA. Have you noticed that a lot of goods these days don’t even admit to where they are made, and if they do It’s noted in Really small print.
WOW!!! I agree with BJ, Rick, Butterbean, Carolyn, Mammawburley, Allen, Bob and DG…Mr. old Hoppe needs to come down to reality as well as Mr Lug nut…I presume Mr. Lug nut works for Foretravel…that is why his MO is “nuts”…Jane
tO EACH HIS OWN. i MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO BUY ONE USED BUT STILL LIKE THE ideal THAT THERE IS SOME WHO HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY WHAT THEY HAVE WORKED FOR DURING THEIR LIFE TIME. sO NOW OFF TO WORK i GO SO i CAN enjoy my lifetime dreams!!! Thanks and Keep up the good info for all not just the ones of us that still work and/or live off retirement savings.
Okay, so now we have to turn everything political: how about McCain who couldn’t even come up with the number of homes he owns (7 at last count). Obama’s not that rich yet, probably losing money as President until he gets the talk and book circuit that Cheney and Bush are cashing in on–Clinton too. This is not Dems’ or Repub’s issue, it is the morphing of our democracy into a plutocracy. The golden rule: whoever has the gold makes the rules.
An on-topic comment for a change: the top-end designs help improve the breed. 20 years ago anti-lock brakes were only on the most expensive luxury cars, now standard on almost everything with 4 wheels. As the costs come down the designs are more available to us “common folk.” My rv is 5 years old but has ABS and other things that would surprise a mid-range owner of a rig 5 or 10 years older.
So let’s stay on topic, the political bashing is irrelevant and discourteous.
NO CHANGE IS LEFT IN MY POCKETS…….
I WOULD SCARED TO DRIVE THIS.
Lug,
How dare you present this thing on the eve of a holiday season when so many lack even the bare basics to get by? I love the coach- where can I get one?
Drew
I agree with all the negatives…I will have to stick with my paltry Newmar Dutchstar a while longer I guess..Only George Soros could afford this monster!!
Hi Lugnut, Pay no attention to all of those negative comments. I can’t afford one of those coaches, I like to keep up with what is being built. The people with the big bucks can buy and enjoy all of the best things we poorer types can’t.
Happy veterans day to all Veterans from a Marine of the past.
My ‘07 Presidio (Thor Motor Coach) isn’t as fancy but has all the same basic seating and probably more square footage with the full wall slide. I’m just hanging on and watching our class A depreciate with the shrinking dollar. Happy Retirement to all the Veterans…
I live in Nacogdoches and this is the first I have heard of a new coach at Foretravel. They must be using the present staff as I have not seen any new job postings in the newspaper, unless they are going thru the state workforce or temp agencies.
If I hear anything about this, I will post to the blog with the site for the newspaper article or tv program.
Anytime anyone buys anything that is made in the USA we all benefit. Go rich guy go… I do not care who has what, I only care that we each have the right to say how we feel.
even if some do not know or understand what they are talking about.
Thanks Lug_Nut for starting the conversation. I wouldn’t mind being financially fortunate enough to drive one of these rigs around. I wouldn’t blame politics but I would congratulate myself…
Bob Frey
There benefits to all of us when NASA or people like Foretravel develope or use new technology. Its called “trickle down benefits”
In 2008 when we toured the RV plant to see our fifth wheel being built the people working on our unit were proud to point out how much we were gaining from their motohome line in everthing from wall/ roof construction to water systems to climate control to cabinets etc. etc.
Lets hope inovation never stops.
I love the halo………………………do they all come with a halo?
If I could get one with a red halo………………….sign me up!!!
Hey Naysayers. Just think, this unit will be worth 100 grand in 7 – 8 years. Some of us “po fok” can then afford one. Just think of the luxury we can have for that kind of money. Good for Foretravel. Bring on the new Prevosts and Newells.
As a former Employee back in the 90’s as a Saleperson, I am glad they are alive and well! They do provide much needed good jobs in Nacadoches TX. and hope they get to hire even more staff. This of course is a Niche’ market in the RV industry, but if you have the Bux, why not? Take a test drive, and see how these things are built, you would not believe it’s capability. There really is that much difference! I have owned many RV’s in 35 years, and Foretravel is a premiere Motorcoach!
BTW, Prevost, Bluebird, and few other Motorcoaches were in this price range in the early ’90’s when Foretravels were half the price. It might still be that way?
Hi Lug_Nut,
Been away for a while (not in jail) and just read your great article again!
What a gorgeous coach!
Too bad some folks are blaming President Obama
for the mess the economy is in. They should be looking for the bankers and like thieves in the stock market and mortage companies. Wonder how many of these white collar crooks made it into prison?
Back to the coach…., I too would like to have a look at this baby. If you hear of an upcoming RV show that it will be at, I sure would like to know about it!
Just got my new coach this year so I won’t be shopping for a while but,
you never know when you buy the winning lottery ticket!
I like the idea of an extra 10″ of space underneath. Just wondering if that makes it a bit top heavy?
Cheers,
John
