Fresh VIDEO from RVIA!

December 10, 2009 by Sean Michael · 3 Comments

from LongLongHoneymoon.com Recently we hauled our Airstream to RVIA, the annual industry convention in Louisville, Kentucky. We found ourselves “camping” in freezing weather upon an enormous slab of asphalt. Oddly, this is much more fun than it sounds. I’m happy to report that Airstreams are quite comfortable in sub-freezing weather, provided one’s heat furnace is working properly. There’s something elemental and satisfying about establishing a cozy, warm outpost on the frozen tundra. Fleece blankets never felt so good! As for RVIA itself, it’s a trade show. If you are interested in the RV trade, it’s a fun show. Most manufacturers are on hand to showcase their latest wares. So in addition to schmoozing with some nice people, we did a fair amount of window shopping. You see everything at RVIA – RVs of every stripe, the latest floorplans, fabrics, and new technology. The most memorable Airstream product was the new International Serenity line. It contains many Asian-influenced design elements. In other words, it feels a little like a Japanese apartment with faux-bamboo cabinetry and Asian decor. Just add Buddha and you’re ready to go. This was our first RVIA. We were told that attendance was down this year. That’s not surprising, considering that RV companies have been subjected to an economic version of the Bataan Death March. When compared to last year, the size of the show was reduced by one-third. But there was optimism in the air. Business is finally turning... Read more

by Jim Guld, www.geeksontour.com The Kindle eBook Reader from Amazon is great for RVers. CLIMATEGATE: Is GLOBAL WARMING “the Greatest SCAM in History?”

December 7, 2009 by Sean Michael · 56 Comments

‘Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. Oh, oh, the irony!” — Comedian Jon Stewart Okay, here’s a hot (no pun intended) topic that seems to be front page news. At the very least, it’s worthy of discussion. I’m an open-minded, environmentally sensitive person. I want clean water and air just like everyone else. I also want environmental policies based upon sound reasoning – not lies. I don’t appreciate fear-mongering. I’ve been told the world’s gonna end so many times, I feel like I’m living an REM song. A couple of years ago, John Coleman (the founder of the The Weather Channel) dubbed global warming ‘the greatest scam in history.’ He accused global media of colluding with ‘environmental extremists’ to alarm the public. Of course, he was verbally tarred and feathered by the mainstream media. They treated him like Tiger Woods at a Promise Keepers convention. Now we have hard evidence that some leading proponents of global warming have been practicing junk science. In what’s being called Climategate, confidential emails (more than 1,000 e-mails and 3,000 other documents) from leading global warming scientists have been leaked to the public. We now know what they’ve been saying in private – and it’s not flattering. The upshot is that these influential climate scientists have been rigging data to prove what they want to prove. They’ve selectively ignored... Read more
