Hello Guys & Gals:
We ALWAYS use a supplemental brake system on our toad while towing behind our motorhome.
Law, or no law, our safety and others is our main concern. I was one of the first Nationally Registered EMTs in Missouri back in the 70's.
Just witness the results of accidents from inadequate braking, and your thoughts may change. The motor-home brakes were not designed to slow more than so much weight.
Our motorhome stops quicker with the toad, than without.

Happy Camping,
Fred b.

Hello Fritz,

I have heard various stories about people getting stopped going into Canada and possibly some states. However my real concern is safety for the folks on the road. I often ask someone" if you could stop 5 feet sooner how much damage would that prevent to your vehicle and the one you hit?" We did our first Tow Brake in 1992. We know what works and doesn't work.
There are quite a few folks that really move out there on the road. I believe good brakes and suspension is a cheap insurance policy on top of driving sensibly.
.
Best wishes for "Safer & Happier Driving".

Glad to hear someone talking about the importance of braking on these rolling beast. In three years on the road with a class A, I can't believe how many people still don't have a secondary braking on their toads. Isn't it law in 33 states?
Second, how many people push the envelope at 75 to 85 mph in these big rigs. Do they honestly believe they can stop the in the same distance as a car or suv. Wake up folks and make it safe for all of us on the road. Good article and sound advice for all to heed.
