Innovative Class B+ Models Gaining in Popularity
October 28, 2009 by rvSearch.com · 2 Comments
Phoenix USA RV has emerged as one of the most popular manufacturers in recent months, as the RV market shifts toward smaller and more efficient models. The company’s Class B+ models are slightly larger than Class B campers, but include the major amenities typically only found in larger rigs, such as a slideout and a full dry bath with shower. The result is a lightweight, easy-to-maneuver motorhome with a surprisingly spacious interior. “Our advantage is that we have built this unit from the ground up to be a B-plus motorhome,” said Stuart Bailey, national sales manager. “The only thing that we are offering less than a Class C is the sleeping position in the cabover. My B-plus has everything that a 45-footer offers, just smaller.” Model lengths range from 21 ft. to 31 ft. in several floor plans, ensuring a match for virtually every lifestyle and interior preference. Whether you’re looking to downsize or upgrade, the Phoenix lineup is worth a close look. Find Phoenix RV models at rvSearch.com. The Phoenix Cruiser 2551 has an improved floor plan that packs plenty of features into its 26’5” length. Inside you’ll find two twin beds and a full bath in the back. Up in the cab, the passenger seat swivels around to provide additional seating in the living area. The galley is equipped with solid-surface countertops and an oversize sink. The 2551 model is powered by a 6.8 L V10 engine with 5-speed automatic transmission, built on the Ford E-450 chassis. The coach also features... Read more

What’s your RV Emergency Escape Plan?
October 26, 2009 by Mark Polk · 14 Comments
When we plan a trip in our RV we tend to think about all of the good aspects of the upcoming adventure. Where we are going, what we’ll do when we get there, and all of the things we will see and experience along the way. What we don’t really think about is what if something happens during the trip and everybody needs to exit the RV in a hurry. What if there is a fire? What if the entry door is blocked and you can’t get out. What’s the plan? Is there a plan? Read more Read More →

Like Old Busses? Check Out The Bus Museum
October 25, 2009 by Brad Sears · 5 Comments
By Brad Sears Hershey Pa: Hershey is known world over as the town that Chocolate built and proudly advertises that fact with the downtown district street lamps being the shape of Hershey Kisses. The smell of chocolate permeates the air giving the manufacturing town a truly sweet smell. The climate and soil around Hershey produces a vibrant green growth of grass that makes the entire are look like a well groomed golf course. During three seasons of the year it is tourist town with the world class Hershey Theme Park, Chocolate World, Chocolate Museum, and more. However for the second weekend in October the old car crowd invades town for the Antique Automobile Club of America’s annual swap meet and show, the largest in the country and possibly the world. The event was held at members homes until 1942 when it grew too big for private homes. The show continued to grow and was finally moved to Hershey Stadium for the October show in 1954 with the paved parking lot reserved for the 2,000 plus cars that showed up for the Saturday show. The surrounding grass fields were used for the for the swap meet. The problem with this was it is prone to rain in October in this part of Pennsylvania. The first year that I went to Hershey as a vendor, in the mid 1960’s, we were on the field the day before the show began and had tables set up, merchandise displayed, and tables covered for the night waiting for opening day. Sometime during the night we woke to the sounds of rain falling on the... Read more
The Best Wi-Fi in RV Parks
October 25, 2009 by Chris Guld · 42 Comments
Wouldn’t it be nice for us travelers if we could find a list of parks with *really good* Wi-Fi? There are lots of directories of RV parks which include information on whether Wi-Fi exists or not – but those of us who use these systems know that the quality varies *greatly.* Some systems are blazing fast, and some are unusably slow. Then, the really bad news is that, even the blazing fast ones are subject to variation depending on the other users in the park. Because of all these factors, most of us who travel a lot take our own Internet connection with us, either with a satellite dish or a cellular data card. The main problems with satellite and cellular is that there are usage limits. We don’t want to go over our limits with Verizon – I’ve heard of people getting $500+ bills for overages! So, we keep looking for those parks with the really good Wi-Fi. Read more Read More →

Are We the Anchor to Mainstreaming Electric Vehicles?
October 24, 2009 by Bob Difley · 43 Comments
Axeon electric vehicle By Bob Difley On Wednesday, 18 scientific organizations wrote Congress to reaffirm that there was a consensus among scientists on the validity of global warming. They cited melting ice caps and the world’s oceans this past summer hitting their highest monthly recorded temperatures. On Thursday the Pew Research center for the People & the Press released a poll of 1,500 adults that found that 57% believe there is strong scientific evidence that the Earth is warming up, and has been over the past few decades. But that majority figure was not seen as a positive moment to global warming believers. Why? The reason is that the percentage of people—according to the poll–believing in global warming has dropped from 77% just since 2006. That’s a 20-point drop in believers. “The priority that people give to pollution and environmental concerns and a whole host of other issues is down because of the economy and because of the focus on other things,” said Andrew Kohut, the director of the research center, which conducted the poll from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4. “When the focus is on other things, people forget and see these issues as less grave.” However, half of all the respondents said they supported establishing limits on the emission of greenhouse gasses—even if it meant higher energy prices. Three-quarters of Democrats believe the evidence of a warming planet is solid, and nearly half believe the problem is serious. But, far fewer... Read more
