I am very proud to be the grandson and great grandson of two of teddy roosevelts ranch hands at his cattle ranch. My great grandfather was the cook at the ranch and was also a civil war hero at the battle of vicksburg. My grandfather Schuyler was a ranch hand and I remember reading a story about him in a magazine being chased by indians delivering mail. Later in life he worked on blasting the canyon for the railroad up to thermopolis Wyoming. He is the first person buried in the old cemetary there.
I will never forget seeing a picture of all the ranch hands posing for a picture
at the Badlands ntl park headquarters. My great grandfather Old man Norman Lebo and my grandfather schuyler lebo make me very proud. I will never forget
my first visit to Medora North dakota. My next visit I will be bringing my daughter and grandson with me.

Great job of covering this. While spending a couple of days be sure you have a "pitchfork fondue" and take in the outdoor drama just south of Medora. Also be sure to tour the home of the Marquis de Mores which is within view of the drama and again just outside of Medora. The Marquis built a meat packing plant in Medora with the intent of shipping processed beef to the big cities rather than shipping cattle for slaughter at the city. The packing plant burned down 3 years later and the ruins are still available for touring in Medora. Also in Medora is a Cowboy Museum with lots of memories of the "old wild west and cowboys on the great plains".

My first visit was in 1947 with my Boy Scout troop when this wasn't yet a National Park -- really changed since then. Byron
